Upskilling the future rail workforce
The National Rail Skills Hub is creating partnerships and pilots to upskill and reskill the rail workforce.
We aim to ensure that:
- all rail workers have the digital skills they need as their roles adapt to new technologies
- we have the cyber security skills required to keep our rail system safe
- we have the ICT, big data and analytics skills needed to build and run new railway system technologies that “talk” to each other
- we can fill new roles such as battery chemist as the sector moves towards a decarbonised future.
We're currently testing the feasibility of a cyber security skills pilot for rail signalling maintenance technicians.
